Construction of the building began in August 2022 to address various concerns raised by customers, particularly those using the hotel’s swimming pool area.

The new structure provides shelter from the elements, ensuring visitors can enjoy their leisure activities without disruption from rain or sun.

The ceremony was also graced by Bishop Emeritus Smaragde Mbonyitege, Muhanga Mayor Jacqueline Kayitare, Fr. Prof. Fidele Dushimimana, ICK’s VC and other distinguished guests

Speaking to ICK News, Bishop Ntivuguruzwa likened the facility to the “White House” in terms of its look and expressed optimism about its impact.

“This building resolves a major concern for our guests who previously lacked a proper shelter while enjoying the hotel’s recreational facilities. Now, they can fully relax and enjoy their time here,” he stated.

The new addition will also serve as a venue for meetings and special events.

Bishop Ntivuguruzwa emphasized that large-scale developments such as this align with the church’s commitment to social responsibility, including supporting vulnerable individuals by providing employment opportunities and financial assistance when needed.

“We must always think of those who are less fortunate, including people with disabilities and those struggling financially, by creating jobs and fostering a spirit of hard work that leads to meaningful achievements,” he added.

Father Prosper Niyonagira, Managing Director of Hotel Saint André Kabgayi, highlighted that the expansion was driven by customer demand and is expected to attract more visitors while improving service quality.

“We are grateful that the issue of exposure to rain and sun has been resolved, and we believe this will bring in more customers. Our goal is to provide top-tier service, ensuring that those who visit receive an experience they cannot find elsewhere in Muhanga,” he noted.

Father Niyonagira also emphasized that the hotel’s growth will create employment opportunities, particularly for young people in Muhanga District trained in the hospitality industry.

Hotel management reports that the project cost over 165 million Rwandan Francs. Currently a three-star establishment, Hotel Saint André Kabgayi is in the process of applying for a four-starrating from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). The hotel offers a range of services, including accommodation, conference facilities, dining, a swimming pool, and a children’s play area among others.
