President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has expressed his condolences to Tanzanian President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan, who passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026.
President Kagame conveyed his condolences in a message posted on his X account on Monday, September 7, 2026, extending his sympathy to President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania following the death of Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
In his message, President Kagame said he stood with President Samia and
her family during this difficult period of grief.
“My sincere condolences to my sister, President Samia, her family, and the people of Tanzania on the passing of H.E. Hafidh Ameir Hassan,” he wrote on X.
President Kagame further said that the Government and people of Rwanda stood in solidarity with President Samia and Tanzanians as they mourned and honoured the life and legacy of Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
“The Government and people of Rwanda stand in solidarity with President Samia Suluhu Hassan and our brothers and sisters in Tanzania as they honour the life and legacy of H.E.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan,” he added.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, died at the age of 66 after spending several days receiving treatment at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar.
Tanzania’s Vice President, Deogratius Ndejembi, said Hafidh Ameir Hassan died at the hospital at around 8:00 a.m., where he had been receiving treatment for a heart-related illness.
