From June 25 to 26, 2024, a delegation from the University of Oradea in Romania, comprising Prof. Borza Gelu Sorin and Dr. Borza Adriana Florina, visited the Institut Catholique de Kabgayi (ICK) to further strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions.

During their visit, the delegation met with Father Prof. Fidèle Dushimimana and discussed the ongoing relationship between the universities. They also engaged with the Deans of ICK’s five faculties and lecturers to exchange information about their respective academic programs.

A conference with students was held, and the delegation toured ICK’s facilities, including the newly established Health Sciences campus. The Romanian delegates were impressed by the campus’s potential for advanced research and academic excellence.

Romanian Delegation Engages with ICK Students

To gain deeper insight into ICK’s unique offerings, the delegation visited the Business Incubation Centre of Kabgayi. This center provides students with practical exposure to real-world business scenarios, fostering innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit. Prof. Sorin and Dr. Florina were particularly captivated by the center’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial efforts.

The primary purpose of the visit was to share information about the faculties at the University of Oradea and explore opportunities arising from the partnership.

The delegation aimed to familiarize themselves with ICK’s faculties and identify potential areas for collaboration. They recognized the importance of partnerships in health sciences, which offer opportunities for collaboration and student mobility initiatives.

Both universities expressed satisfaction with the overlapping faculties available at both institutions. The University of Oradea boasts faculties such as History, International Relations, Political Sciences, and Communication Sciences, which align closely with ICK’s Journalism and Communication Studies faculty. This alignment provides an exceptional opportunity for ICK students to pursue master’s degrees and PhD studies at the University of Oradea, advancing their academic careers.

Furthermore, the University of Oradea’s Faculty of Letters aligns with ICK’s Faculty of Education, opening doors for fruitful exchanges and joint research initiatives.

Additionally, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Oradea corresponds to ICK’s Faculty of Health Sciences, providing a strong foundation for collaboration in healthcare.

Another noteworthy alignment is between the University of Oradea’s Faculty of Environmental Protection and ICK’s Faculty of Science of Development. This convergence creates opportunities for collaborative research and initiatives addressing environmental challenges and sustainable development.

The Faculty of Economics at the University of Oradea aligns with ICK’s Faculty of Social, Economic Sciences and Business Management, allowing for the exchange of knowledge and expertise in economics.

The visit of Prof. Borza Gelu Sorin and Dr. Borza Adriana Florina marked a significant milestone in strengthening the ties between the University of Oradea and Institut Catholique de Kabgayi. By leveraging their shared faculties and fostering collaboration, the partnership aims to create a vibrant academic environment that empowers students with global perspectives and valuable international experiences.
