Kamonyi, June 27, The Institut Catholique de Kabgayi (ICK) has started a comprehensive outreach tour aimed at enhancing its visibility and attracting more students to its campuses.
The tour began with visits to two schools in Kamonyi District, both within the Kabgayi Diocese: Ecole Sainte Bernadette Kamonyi and Musambira Secondary School of Commerce and Science of Education (ECOSE Saint Kizito Musambira).

Leading the ICK delegation was Dr. Marie Paul Dusingize, Dean of the Faculty of Social Economic Sciences and Mangemant at ICK.
Speaking with ICK News, Dr. Dusingize outlined the tour’s primary objective as part of ICK’s strategic vision to expand its programs. She stressed the necessity of increasing the institution’s visibility, stating, “Expansion is impossible without recognition. This campaign is designed to make ICK more visible, particularly to finalist students from various secondary schools who will soon enter university.”

Dr. Dusingize emphasized that providing direct information to students is vital in helping them make informed decisions about their future studies.
“This initiative will significantly increase the number of students who choose ICK for their higher education, enhancing our reputation for quality education. As we transition from an institute to a university, such efforts are essential,” she explained.

During the visits, students from both Ecole Sainte Bernadette Kamonyi and ECOSE Musambira engaged with the ICK delegation, asking questions and gaining insights.
Many students appreciated the information provided. Brigitte Uwase, a senior six student in History, Economics, and Geography at Sainte Bernadette Kamonyi, remarked, “This visit was crucial as we are about to complete our advanced level courses. The information from ICK has given us a clear direction, and I am now considering studying Journalism at ICK.”
Hervé Iradukunda Uwayo, a senior six student in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Economics (MCE), shared, “Today’s session was highly informative and will guide me in making better decisions about my future studies. I now feel encouraged to consider ICK as a potential university.”
Nyirimanzi Jean de Dieu, a senior six student in MCE at ECOSE Musambira, echoed these sentiments, “We are grateful for ICK’s visit. It has provided us with a better understanding of the programs they offer. As finalists, we can now plan our future studies with greater clarity.”
The headteachers of the visited schools also shared their thoughts on the initiative.
Father Jean d’Amour Majyambere of Sainte Bernadette Kamonyi expressed his gratitude, saying, “We appreciate ICK’s effort in reaching out to our students. This initiative is beneficial as it enlightens our students about their future educational opportunities and helps them make informed decisions.”
Father Faustin Nsengiyumva of ECOSE Musambira added, “This outreach program is a commendable effort by ICK. It not only provides valuable information to our students but also inspires them to consider their future studies seriously. We hope ICK continues this initiative regularly and starts engaging with students as early as Senior 4.”
