Muhanga-Huye highway will not be the same anymore; La Prima, a vibrant coffee shop is leading the way since June 2024.
The venture which has quickly become a popular stopover for travelers on the Kigali-Huye road in Rwanda’s Southern Province, is located in Shyogwe Sector, at the border between Muhanga and Ruhango districts.
Known for its exceptional coffee aroma, delicious meals, and inviting atmosphere, La Prima offers high-quality service at affordable prices, making it a welcoming destination for both locals and visitors.
Niyonsaba Martha, the Chief Executive Officer of La Prima , describes La Prima as more than just a coffee shop. “La Prima is a multi-service venue that includes La Prima Coffee Shop, La Prima Supermarket, and La Prima Bar, all under one roof,” she explained.
She elaborated on the motivation behind establishing La Prima, “We wanted to create a place where people could find everything they need, whether it’s a quick cup of coffee, groceries, or a place to unwind.”
This concept was inspired by the fact that in Muhanga City, there was no top-tier coffee shops. As a result, residents had to travel to Kamonyi or Nyanza for a good cup of coffee.
“We saw the need for a comfortable space where people could enjoy quality coffee, meals, and even host small events without leaving Muhanga,” she told ICK News.
Niyonsaba believes that what sets La Prima apart is its commitment to excellent customer service.
“We ensure every customer feels at home and receives prompt, friendly service. Our location also offers a peaceful environment, fresh air, and plenty of parking space,” she added.
La Prima is not just resting on its laurels. Niyonsaba revealed exciting plans for expansion, including the near completion of a conference hall, which will allow the venue to host meetings, events, and other gatherings.
“We want La Prima to be more than just a stopover; we want it to be a place where people can hold their conferences, celebrations, and special occasions,” she said.
Looking ahead, La Prima also plans to offer guest rooms, providing a comprehensive range of services for visitors looking to relax or extend their stay.
The location is particularly appealing due to its proximity to the city outskirts, offering a serene environment free from noise pollution, which many people appreciate.
Opened in mid 2024, La Prima can accommodate up to 800 guests in its garden for events such as weddings, graduation ceremonies, and birthdays.
