King Charles III of United Kingdom has congratulated the England men’s football team for reaching the Euro 2024 final after their 2-1 win over the Netherlands.
In his message, he praised the team and urged them to avoid last-minute drama in their match against Spain. He highlighted the stress caused by their previous dramatic matches against Slovakia and Switzerland.
“My wife and I send our warmest congratulations and best wishes for Sunday’s match. Please, if possible, secure victory without last-minute goals or penalty shootouts for the sake of the nation’s heart rates. Good luck, England.”
The King’s message follows Ollie Watkins’ 90th-minute winner in the semi-final.
This is England’s second appearance in a Euro final, with their first being in 2020 when they lost to Italy on penalties. Since the inception of the UEFA European Championship in 1960, England has participated in the tournament ten times.
