The Institute Catholique de Kabgayi ICK in partnership with the Rwanda Media Program on Friday, January 24, 2025 concluded five day training on Website management.
This training was attended by 10 ICK News journalists from January 20 to January 24, 2025.
The main objective of the training was to equip participants with knowledge about website management using modern technology known as WordPress.
The trainees said that this initiative was necessary for journalism students, as it will help improve the quality of ICK News publication and enable them to be relevant on the job market.
“I had high expectations for this training, and I wasn’t disappointed. Initially, I thought that creating a website required coding skills only, which made it seem complex and out of reach. However, we discovered that there’s a modern approach called WordPress that allows to build and complete a website in a short time,” said Pauline Ikundabayo, a participant.
“We request the organizers to allocate more time for this training because we have covered a lot of content in a short period. If the training was longer, it would have been better,” she said.

Bruce Mugwaneza, the facilitator expressed his satisfaction with working with the students and noted their eagerness to learn.
He encouraged them to continue their journey toward becoming web managers.
“I initially thought all students were familiar with managing and using websites, but I found that wasn’t the case. However, thanks to their enthusiasm, by the end of the training, everyone had acquired sufficient knowledge to assist them in their daily tasks,” he said.
The trainer acknowledged that one week was not enough to gain extensive knowledge on the subject, suggesting an extended training duration.
“It’s challenging to condense a program typically learned over a year into a single week. Therefore, allocating more time would be more beneficial,” he said.
