The Institut Catholique de Kabgayi (ICK), in collaboration with Cornerstone and Luthien Advisory (CLA), has announced the official academic calendar for the May to August 2025 semester of its Certified Public Accountant Rwanda [CPA (R)] and Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) courses.
The joint program, which has grown in popularity among aspiring finance and accounting professionals, aims to equip students with both academic credentials and professional qualifications simultaneously.
According to the released course schedule, lectures will commence on Monday, May 5, 2025, for the evening section, and on Friday, May 9, 2025, for the weekend section, following a student registration period throughout March and April.
The semester will include mock examinations in early July, revision classes in August, and culminate with the tentative ICPAR national examinations between August 25 and 29, pending confirmation from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR).
The initiative, part of a broader ICK/CLA professional development strategy, provides a unique blend of academic and industry-focused training aimed at increasing the employability of young professionals.
One of the highlights of the course calendar is the provision of evening and weekend classes, which are particularly beneficial to working professionals seeking to upgrade their qualifications without interrupting their careers.
Mock examinations are scheduled to run from July 7 to 11, with results due by July 18. ICPAR registration must be completed by Sunday, July 20, to ensure eligibility for the national exams. Regular lectures will conclude on July 31, with revision sessions continuing through most of August.
The CPA and CAT programs are structured into four levels, comprising a total of 18 modules and 14 modules respectively. Each level concludes with an examination prepared by ICPAR. Only students who pass the exams can proceed to the next stage.
Tuition and Registration Fees
The cost per module is set at RWF 70,000 for ICK alumni and staff. For individuals who are not affiliated with ICK, the fee is RWF 80,000 per module. In addition to the module fees, all students are required to pay an annual registration fee of RWF 30,000.
To be eligible to sit for examinations, students must also pay a separate exam registration fee. For CPA studies, this fee is RWF 100,000, while for CAT studies, it is RWF 50,000.
The actual cost of sitting for the exams varies depending on the level. For CAT exams, the sitting fee is RWF 65,000 per stage. For CPA exams, the fee structure is as follows: RWF 65,000 for the Foundation level, RWF 75,000 for the Intermediate level, and RWF 85,000 for the Advanced level.
Through this program, students can also enroll in other globally recognized certifications, including ACCA- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), PMP- Project Management Professional (UK), CIPS – Chartered Institutes of Procurement &Supply (UK), while still enrolled in their undergraduate programs. This approach not only saves time but also enhances students’ competitiveness in Rwanda’s increasingly demanding labor market.
Prospective students are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to register and to take full advantage of the program’s resources.
