Muhanga: Youth urged to be a catalyst for lasting change and development

Young people in Muhanga District have been urged to play a concrete role in the country's development, to avoid conduct that could harm their future, and to make the most of available opportunities.

The call came during the District Youth Council general assembly held on 30 June 2026, closing the 2025-2026 performance year under the theme "Youth, the foundation of lasting development."

In a panel discussion, young people were shown their role in building a better future through good behaviour, with an emphasis on avoiding early pregnancies, drug abuse and other harmful habits. Speakers encouraged them to "Think Big, Start Small, but Start Now."

The Mayor of Muhanga District, Kayitare Jacqueline, thanked the youth for their contribution and urged them to take advantage of low-interest, collateral-free loans available for youth projects and cooperatives, concluding that young people remain the force building the nation.
