After the basketball matches, attention shifted to the men’s football game, which took place amid light rain in the Muhanga District.

EAUR’s football team showcased remarkable prowess on the field, delivering a commanding performance and defeating ICK with a resounding 5–0 score.

Both ICK and EAUR students expressed that these friendly competitions serve as a bridge to strengthen bonds between the universities, fostering camaraderie and a spirit of mutual respect.

David Mugabo, the Guild President of the East African University Rwanda (EAUR), expressed, “As EAUR, we wished to visit ICK, participate in friendly matches, and build connections with their students to foster friendships and establish a stronger network with fellow students.”

Sharing a similar perspective, Cedric Niyonkuru, the Guild President of ICK, remarked that inviting teams from various universities aligns with a goal he set upon assuming office-to enhance relationships and foster camaraderie among students.

“We, as AGE-ICK, representing the student union, are thrilled by this achievement,” he said. “One of our commitments was to invite other universities for engagements through sports, as these interactions help build lasting connections. We are particularly grateful to EAUR for their visit. They’ve also left us with a valuable lesson on the importance of continuous sports practice-not only for specific games but as a routine that can even benefit our daily academic pursuits.”
