President Paul Kagame has been awarded the prestigious title of African of the Year for 2024, recognizing his significant contributions to driving change and fostering development across the African continent.
The award was presented on October 24, 2024, during the All Africa Business Leaders Awards (AABLA) ceremony in South Africa. This accolade highlights Kagame’s role in promoting economic progress in Africa and is organized in partnership with CNBC Africa.
Organizers praised Kagame for consistently showcasing Africa’s potential for growth and development, with many leaders considering him a role model for effective governance and innovation.
Rwanda’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Hategeka, accepted the award on behalf of President Kagame. He emphasized the president’s dedication to empowering millions of individuals committed to building a prosperous future for Africa.
“His Excellency the President dedicated this award to the millions of men, women, and youth who work tirelessly to build a stronger and more prosperous Africa,” Hategeka stated on X.
He also expressed gratitude to the AABLA organizers, urging continued leadership with purpose and innovation to inspire future generations of African leaders.
This marks the second time President Kagame has received this honor, having previously been awarded African of the Year in 2018.
