President Kagame Joins African Leaders for John Mahama’s Inauguration

Accra, Ghana (ICK News) – Rwandan President Paul Kagame has arrived in Accra to join a host of African Heads of State and dignitaries for the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

The ceremony, held at the historic Black Star Square, marks a significant political transition in Ghana as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) takes the reins of government.

John Mahama’s return to the presidency follows a decisive victory in the 2024 elections, where the NDC emerged triumphant with a margin of over 1.7 million votes against the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

This victory underscores Mahama’s enduring popularity and the trust Ghanaians have placed in his leadership.

The inauguration event is being attended by 21 Heads of State, alongside a high-profile delegation of foreign dignitaries, including three vice presidents, four ministers, and 24 envoys, as confirmed by Ghana’s Ministry of Information.

Outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo, having served two terms, is set to hand over the reins to Mahama.

The Black Star Square, a symbolic venue in Ghana’s political history, is packed with enthusiastic citizens and international guests who have gathered to witness this landmark event.

President Mahama’s ascension to office heralds a renewed focus on unity and progress for Ghana.

His running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is also making history as one of the few women to assume the role of Vice President in Africa.
