Key Priorities of Kabgayi Eye Hospital in 2025

Each year, the Kabgayi Eye hospital sets clear objectives, committing to achieving them through strategic planning and prayer.

In December 2024, Dr. Théophile Tuyisabe, Director of Kabgayi Eye Hospital, shared the hospital’s major priorities for 2025 in an interview with ICKNews.

For 2025, the hospital has outlined three key focus areas: reducing patient waiting times, improving training programs for medical professionals, and addressing patient feedback.

Dr. Tuyisabe emphasized their commitment to enhancing service delivery, stating, “Our top priority is to refine the services we provide to our patients.

Additionally, we aim to address the feedback we have received, as improving in these areas is a pressing matter.” To support these goals, Kabgayi Eye Hospital is developing a new system to minimize the time patients spend at the facility.

Another initiative to put in place this year is the International Conference on Ophthalmology, which brings together eye care professionals from around the globe.

Organized annually by Kabgayi Eye Hospital, the conference is scheduled for March 1, 2025.

Dr. Tuyisabe encouraged early registration, saying, “Last year’s conference was a great success, and we are confident this year’s event will be just as impactful.”

The hospital also plans to continue its focus on training medical professionals. In 2024, it provided training on managing eye injuries, and similar sessions are planned for late February and October 2025.

Dr. Tuyisabe urged interested participants to register early to take advantage of these opportunities.

Kabgayi Eye Hospital remains open to visitors and committed to strengthening its partnerships.

To the stakeholders, Dr. Tuyisabe assured them that, the hospital aims to achieve at least 98% performance efficiency in its operations, stating, “We are determined to serve our partners with excellence and speed.”

In 2023, the hospital treated over 50,000 patients, with 70% receiving care at the facility and 30% benefiting from community outreach programs.
