The Electoral College of the Institut Catholique de Kabgayi (ICK) has elected a new student leadership committee to head the Association Générale des Étudiants de l’ICK (AGE-ICK) for the 2025–2026 academic year. The election took place on Saturday, November 14, 2025, and was conducted online to ensure transparency and broad participation.
According to the final results, Pierre Kanangire was re-elected as the Guild President, defeating three other candidates who were vying for the top position. This marks his second consecutive mandate as the leader of the student body.

The new committee comprises 24 members, including 9 males and 15 females, reflecting the institution’s commitment to gender inclusivity in leadership.
Key positions in the Executive Committee were also filled during the election. Marie Merci Utetiwabo was elected as the First Vice Guild President, while Sylvie Valerie will serve as the Second Vice Guild President. Marthe Mutuyimana was elected Secretary.
In the Ministers’ section, Floride Umuhire was elected Minister of Education, Maranatha Ahishakiye as Minister of Gender Promotion, Eddy Shema Muyenzi as Minister of Health, Eric Ndayishimiye as Minister of Leisure, Culture, and Sports, Joselyne Niyonsaba as Minister of User Accounts, and Aimée Marie Ange Tumukunde as Minister of Social Affairs, among others.
Additionally, Emmanuel Nsengumuremyi will chair the Arbitration Committee, assisted by Nikuze Ange Anastasie as Vice President.
Leaders commit to strengthening student engagement
Speaking to ICK News after his re-election, Kanangire pledged to work closely with fellow leaders to enhance student activities and academic support.
“Where gaps were identified last year, such as limited support for clubs and associations, we intend to make improvements,” said Kanangire.
“We will not introduce unnecessary new initiatives, but strengthen what benefits students the most. A leader exists because of the people who entrust him with responsibility.”

“Teamwork is key. Students are the ones who choose their leaders, so we must remain close to them and work collectively to achieve our goals,” he said.
Protogene Ufitinema, the outgoing President of Arbitration Committee, confirmed that the election was free and fair.
“The electoral process was transparent thanks to the use of technology. Every eligible voter had access to cast their vote,” he noted.

He explained that those unable to vote faced issues related to incomplete registration, but efforts were made to clarify the circumstances with them.
